Pole Vault

Somers Rachel Cassata ties Section 1 mark with 11'00" win.  She broker her own Westchester County record, and it's a good thing, because Ursuline's Jillian Bliss cleared 10'07" in New Haven, CT, just a little while after Cassata cleared her record height.

55m

Lynne Lane (New Rochelle, NY), the defending National Champion at 60m, won in a meet record 6.99 (US#1)

2 Mile

Bayshore's Lauren Schmidt catches Suffern's Kara McKenna with 350m to go to win in 10:47.38

2 Mile Seeds posted

full seeds for each event will be available at the meet.

Girls Mile Preview

Danielle Tauro (So. Regional, NJ) is entered and will be the favorite, but Tauro placed 6th at Footlocker Nationals last weekend and may have entered the meet before qualifying for Footlocker.  If she’s on the line, she’ll be the favorite. (Millrose Qualifier last year)

Maegan Krifchin (JFK Bellmore) is the 2 seed and coming off a great XC season.  She has run 5:07 for 1600m.  Kelsey Malmquist from Kellenverg should be in the mix as well as she ran 4:40 for the 1500m last year at the NYS meet.  Right ahead of her in that race was Mary Alice Howard (Somers), who’s PR of 4:39 in the 1500m should carry her in this race.  Both Suffern stars Shelby Greaney and Kara McKenna are entered in the race but both are entered in the 3K as well, and judging by past practices, they’ll run the 3K because it’s part of the NYRRC series.

Boys Mile Preview

Top seed Alex Bean (Somers, NY) hasn’t run a race since placing 21st at Footlocker NE in 16:01 and could be a little rusty, though Bean also ran 12:46 at VCP and has a 1:52.8 800m relay split to his credit.  Rashard Nelson (Transit Tech) won the Jim McKay meet in 4:35 two weeks ago and ran 4:33 last year.  Serge Morrell (Stuyvesant) ran 16:54 at VCP this year.  Vito Cannova should be right in the battle for the win as he ran 4:27 for the mile last winter and ran on 4x800 relay that ran 8:00.8 last weekend.  Fordham Prep’s Terrence Egan also has 4:27 speed to his name.  Justin Granite of East Brunswick, NJ can also mix it up with the leaders.
