NY State Qualifiers and Championships meets continue


10/30 - NY-BQ-CHSAA Boys Champs - Girls Champs- VCP

 

Iona Prep wins NYCHSAA 49-49-52 over St. Peters and Fordham Prep.  It was Iona 3rd title ever and it was the closest meet in history.

10/26 - Westchester County Champs

Byram Hills boys win 2nd straight county title 47-97-105 over Iona Prep and Somers.  Max Kasak runs 12:50 for the win as the Bobcats average 13:20 on a cold and blustery day.  White Plains KK Gilmartin-Donohue returns to the top with 15:06 win.  KK won the county title in 8th grade but had struggled a little the last few years.  Bronxville girls over Horace Greeley and Ursuline 50-68-89.

Eastern States returns to VCP a week after the fastest day ever at the famous course.


Smithtown over Collegiate at Brown!

10/21 - Brown Invitational - Brown U., RI

Smithtown moves into #2 in NYS with win at Brown.

 

10/21 - Eastern States Championships - VCP

Haddonfield , Washingtonville, Newburgh Free, and Miller School boys and Red Bank, St. Basil, and Cardinal O’Hara girls.  Curtis' Keith Stapleton edges out Morris Hills Kyle Soloff 12:34-12:35 to win "A" race.

 

10/18 - NYCHSAA Soph Champs - VCP

Monsignor Farrell sophs win their 22nd team title in the last 40 years as Iona Prep's Kyle Shepard takes the individual crown with 13:40.8 performance.

10/07 - Mayor's Cup - VCP   

The battle for bragging rights in NYC went down at the classic VCP 2.5 mile course.  Curtis pulls stunner and beats Collegiate 62-69, the question being, did Collegiate run stacked out?  The answer - not entirely.  Townsend Harris girls over Tottenville.  Pics added to results page

Arlington Wins!

Boys:  Some were questioning if Arlington belonged in the #5 spot in the NYS Class AA rankings last week.  Well the Admirals went out and averaged 13:22 on the storied SM course to prove they are legit.

 

McClancy edges Somers and Lynbrook in the small schools race 52-55-58.

 

 

10/07 - Grout Run - Schenectady, NY

Chaminade's average winning time (13:50)  was the fastest this century (7 meets since 2000) and Queensbury was a close third (13:53) to a team from Shenendehowa from 2003.   Shaker was also in the top 10 alltime averages at 14:04

Boys Varsity B Race - Host Brewster beats Miller Place on 6th man tie breaker 67-67  Boys Varsity C Race - Byram Hills rolls with Max Kasak new course record of 15:39, 5 man avg. of 16:54  Girls Varsity A Race - Horace Greeley (fastest 5 team avg of 19:50)

Girls Varsity B Race - Miller Place edges Fox Lane and Brewster   Girls Varsity C Race - New Paltz's Natalie Busby smashes course record in 18:13, Albertus Magnus wins team title

 

10/07 - Tully Invitational - Tully HS

Tully boys edge Pawling 47-52 in match up between top Class C teams in State.  Pawling's Colby Del Bene takes title in 16:00.  Pittsford Sutherland boys win A/B race.  Tully girls win C/D race while Baldwinsville girls best Liverpool by one point in A/B race.

 

10/6-7 - Disney Invitational - Orlando, FL

Katie Sullivan leads Ursuline girls to 2A crown with great effort down south.  Carmel girls win 3A race as Kristin Reese leads mates to victory.  Regis boys take 1A title led by Rudy Quinn.  Iona Prep boys look strong but Pearl River boys best them in the 2A race 52-71.

Week #3 - 9/25-10/01


Week # 3 NY State Rankings are out

 

Along with the meet at Warwick that previews the NYPHSAA Championships meet course, some meets with long histories are held upstate at McQuaid and Herrmann.  The Clinton Invitational at VCP saw teams race on the 5000m course, which at VCP is used a lot less than the classic 2.5 mile one.

Warwick, NY - September 30th, 2006

Results:  Shen boys have best team time of the day as Stephen Murdock sets new course record with 15:08 effort.  Hilton girls edge Radnor, PA by 9 points after scoring error is fixed.

Lee Berube (Ticonderoga) takes titles but Queensbury bests Shaker 36-38.  King sisters (Scotia) go 1-2 but Holy Names beats Colonie and Queensbury 79-93-96 at the site of the 2005 NYSPHSAA Championships.

HFL boys over Clarence.  East Aurora girls dominate HFL 36-79 in battle of mid sized upstate powers.

9/22 - Red Raider Run - Anthony Wayne SP

In the girls varsity two race, Jackie Gamboli paced a strong North Rockland team to a repeat win.  In the boys varsity one race, Andy Clyne of Washingtonville helped continue his team's tradition of winning at the Red Raider Run with a victory in 16:42 over Fordham Prep.  Despite a victory from Suffern star Shelby Greany and a third place effort from Christy Goldman, the New Rochelle girls up-ended their section rival in an exciting girls varsity one race.  Middle Country of Long Island used a balanced attack of packed runners to edge Monroe-Woodbury in the boys varsity two race.  For North Rockland, AJ Savoia claimed his second invitational victory of the year running 16:46. - NRXC.net
